Which paint brands and grades do you typically use?
We prefer to use Sherwin Williams - Super Paint or Behr - Premium Plus lines of paint.
Can you guide me in selecting paint colors and finishes?
Our salespeople will be able to advise you in general color theory and effects of sheen but the final decision on a color must be made by the customer. We do not assume responsibility for color selection.
Do you offer environmentally friendly or low-VOC paint options?
Yes, there are low VOC options available from both manufacturers.
Will you provide all the necessary painting materials, or should I purchase them separately?
We prefer to supply the materials for all of our jobs. However, if you’d prefer to supply the materials, the option can be discussed with our sales staff.
Process and Timeline
Do you have a specific order for painting different areas of the house?
No, we are flexible and able to start wherever needed.
When can we schedule our painting?
Typically, our clients wait no longer than 2 weeks from the time of proposal acceptance. However, since we initiate projects on a first-come first-served basis, the timeline can vary.
Preparation and Repairs
Will you be scraping and sanding surfaces before painting?
Proper surface preparation will be implemented every time unless otherwise specified by the homeowner.
Do you remove hardware, such as switch plates, or should I handle that beforehand?
We will remove all switch plates, outlet covers, and A/C vent covers. Exceptions for spaces where these items have previously been painted over.
Cleanup and Debris Removal
How thorough is your cleanup process after completing the painting job?
Very thorough, we do our best to leave the job site in better condition than we found it. Despite our best efforts, on jobs with drywall repairs, dust could potentially linger for days depending on a variety of factors.
Will you be responsible for disposing of debris and leftover materials?
Yes, after painting we remove all waste materials from the job site. Though we will take untinted and reusable materials, we will leave the remaining custom paints on the client's property for future use.
Do you clean up daily or only after the entire project is finished?
We clean up daily but do a deeper clean on the finishing day.
Warranty and Satisfaction
Do you offer any warranty on your labor and the materials used?
We warranty materials per the manufacturers’ specifications and labor for 5 years.
Additional Costs and Services
Are there additional charges for multiple paint colors or color changes?
Our interior package allows for 3 colors, one for trim, walls, and ceiling. Our exterior package allows for 2 colors, for siding and trim. Each additional color is $50.
What happens if I request a color match to the existing paint?
Our color match service is $100 and applies to solid color matches only. We do not color-match semi-transparent materials.
Do you offer any additional services such as window washing or gutter cleaning?
Yes, Bucket and Brush Painting LLC also offers residential pressure washing and window washing services.
Accessibility and Timing
What access will you need to the property during the painting process?
Our crews need access to all areas being serviced at the time of the service. This also includes working water and electrical connections.
How do you handle scheduling and timing, especially in terms of weather conditions?
We schedule jobs on a first come first served basis and try to do so with the inclement weather in mind. Extreme weather may put a stop to our work, if a stop is needed work will resume as soon as is practical.
Are there specific dates or periods when you cannot schedule painting jobs?
We do not schedule work during the holiday season from December 20th - January 3rd.
Customer Responsibilities
What are my responsibilities as the homeowner during the painting process?
The homeowner’s responsibilities include ensuring our crews have access to all areas being serviced, including windows and doors, providing water and electrical connections, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
Are there specific items or areas I should prepare before the painters arrive?
High-value items, whether sentimental or monetary, should be relocated from the working area before our crew’s arrival. We can assist with the relocation of items in a room such as wall decorations and furniture but we do not assume responsibility for damage or destruction of these items.
How should I handle alarms, electronics, and access to water and electricity during the job?
Before the start of your project, provide all necessary information regarding alarms and utility access to your estimator or the project manager.
Electronics within the workspace should be disconnected from power before our crews begin the service.
Payment and Terms
How and when do you expect payment for your services?
Payment for your service is due upon completion. We prefer cash or check but also accept cards and ACH.
Are there any fees associated with payment methods such as credit cards or Venmo?
Yes, card transactions as well as ACH carry a 3% additional fee for processing.
What is your policy regarding changes in the scope of work and pricing adjustments?
